Honor Roll
GMC JC softball players honored
Several GMC JC softball players were recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association as scholar-athletes, for a 3.5 GPA or better:
Alyssa Jones, Emma Riner, Hailey Morgan, Isabella Owens, Karleigh Taylor, Paris Kirby, Emily Thompson, Hailey Daughtry, Hudson Smith, Kaitlyn Hallman, and McKenzie Maddox.
Central Georgians make Atlanta TD Club all-state team
Three area players were picked as all-staters by the Touchdown Club of Atlanta:
Running back Ahmad Gordon of Class 4A state champ Perry made the offense. The group also picked Houston County offensive lineman Peyton Joseph, who played at Peach County as a sophomore but didn’t play last year after transferring to Houston County after no gaining eligibility with the GHSA.
Defensive line standout Isaiah Gibson of Warner Robins was the lone area defensive pick.

Murphy out, Humphrey in at Covenant
The acclimation period is ending, and pads practice begins on Monday.
That’s not the only thing that starts Monday at Covenant. The Rams will hav ea new head coach, Clint Humphrey taking over for Matt Murphy.
The school announced the hiring Friday on its Facebook page, but never announced Murphy’s departure after one season.
The school participates in 8-man football in the GIAA..
The John Milledge (and Georgia College) grad has spent his career in coaching and administration at GISA/GIAA schools, including as a coach and principal at Westfield.
He returned to his alma mater in June of 2022 as head of school, after 11 years at Southland. But he and the school parted ways in early June.
