Dudley pulls out another pitchers’ duel

          Small-ball, solid defense, and quality pitching again propelled Georgia in the Llittle League Southeast Regional, the group from Dudley topping North Carolina 4-2.

          Ava Collins had two of Dudley’s six hits as the first three batters in the lineup went 4 for 8 with three runs.

          Deandra Lowther went the distance again, with seven strikeouts and two walks, giving up six hits.

          Georgia is off until Tuesday when it faces Virginia, which beat Florida 8-0 on Sunday. West Virginia blanked Tennessee 11-0.

          North Carolina plays South Carolina at 11 a.m. Monday, followed by Florida and West Virginia.

 

Macon pulls ahead late

          Three runs in the final two innings were the difference in Macon’s 8-5 win at Lexington County.

          The Bacon outhit the Blowfish 15-5 and had errors, and needed the late rally.

          A Brown led Macon with three hits, while Holden Breeze, Mason Minzey, Jared Webber and Jake Larson each had two hits. Marcus Cashman fanned 10 in five innings as the starter. FPD grad and Mercer signee Micah Takac gave up two runs in three innings and got the win, Baxter Halligan with the save.
