Alumni Update

Gatewood grad Hancock advances in Paris

As expected, three-time Olympic gold medal winner Vincent Hancock moved into the second round of qualifying in skeet shooting Friday in the Paris Olympics.

And he advanced with one of his students in north Texas, Conner Prince.

The pair enters the next qualification first and second, Hancock with a perfect 75 and Prince among four at 74.

The second round of qualifying is at 3 a.m., EST, and the skeet final is at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, on CNBC.

Hancock hopes to join Michael Phelps, Carl Lewis, and Al Oerter as the only three Americans to win gold four times in the same individual event.

Hancock and his family moved from Georgia to near Dallas in 2014.
