Rough week of NFL cuts for Central Georgia products
The bad news for several former Central Georgia high school football standouts is they were told to bring their playbooks to the head coach’s office.
The good news is that a fair chunk of them will find a spot on a roster at some point soon, likely on a practice squad at first.
NFL teams made the necessary cuts or waiver moves this week to get down to the 53-man roster.
A surprise departure was that of Westside grad Kareem Jackson, who signed in July with Buffalo, his third team (Houston twice, Denver once). He has played in only 10 games the past two seasons.
Also cut or waive: WR Quintez Cephus, Stratford, Houston; QB Jake Fromm, Houston County/UGA, by Detroit; LB Devin Harper, Mercer, Cincinnati; OL Trey Hill, Houston County/UGA, Cincinnati; WR Kearis Jackson, Peach County/UGA, Tennessee; OL Jason Poe, Mercer, by Philadelphia.
Among those waived or cut earlier: WR Ty James, Mercer, Minnesota; WR Devron Harper, Mercer, Minnesota
The full list of moves is here.
