Alumni Update
Tattnall grad on national runner-up softball team
Belhaven’s softball season ended later than it ever has, and Tattnall grad Allie Gordon was a big reason.
A graduate student in her final season at the Mississippi school, she helped the Blazers reach the NCAA Division III softball championship series.
Belhaven, seeded sixth, lost 8-2 and 9-5 to second-seeded East Texas Baptist in the championship series last week.
That was after beating Berry College in a Super Regional in Rome, winning 10-1 and following a 3-1 loss with a 3-2 win to advance to the Women’s College World Series in Marshall, Texas.
Belhaven went 4-1, beating Linfield twice on a Sunday, to advance to the championship series for the first time in program history.
The Blazers finished 47-15, the most wins since 2011.
Gordon played in 57 games this season, and hit .392 with 17 homers, 65 RBI, and 19 doubles.
She departs with a career .386 average, 52 homers, 232 RBI, a .682 slugging percentage and .432 on-base percentage, plus 74 doubles, starting in all 251 games that she played.
She earned conference Player of the Year honors in 2024 (Collegiate Conference of the South) and 2023 (American Southwest Conference), and was a first-team all-conference pick in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, while earning academic and all-region honors several times, as well as three All-American selections as.
Gordon is the program leader in RBI, homers, and doubles, ranking in the top 10 in several other categories. She is also the NCAA Division III record-holder for total career hits, by 14, with 320.i
