Aquinas 43, Howard 39 (Click here for full story)
Aquinas scored on three straight possessions in the fourth and held on after a poor onside kick in the final 80 seconds to edge Howard (4-5/3-4) at Thompson Stadium in a key Region 4-AAA game. The Irish trailed 27-20 at halftime, and trailed 33-23 and 39-30 but used ball control to wear down Howard’s defense, and go ahead on QB Jim Franklin’s keeper with 1:20 left. The Huskies got the ball on the Aquinas 42 after a bad onside kick went only out of bounds, but stalled after getting 12 yards on first down, the threat ending with a fourth-down sack. Kameron Clark had 123 yards and a TD on 16 carries, Jacolbie Allen with 115 and one on 17 rushes. Franklin completed 20 of 36 for 257 yards. Howard’s Jaidon Grayer had an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Howard finishes the regular season on Saturday at Westside-Augusta.

Bleckley County 48, Jefferson County 16
Jefferson County recorded its highest point total of the season, but Bleckley County was up 27-0 by the time the visitors mounted anything. The Royals got touchdowns from Dequavis Benjamin, Kam Everett, Zyion Love, and a pass from Everett to Kaden Perkins in building that lead. The Royals improved to 4-6 and 3-6 and further solidified their playoff chances in Class A/Division I.

West Laurens 28, Baldwin 14
Baldwin tied it at 14 late in the second quarter, but West Laurens took the lead midway through the third quarter on Ty Cummings’  26-yard run, and added cushion early in the fourth on a 59-yard pass from Cason Poloock to Jacob Holsey. The Raiders’ defense then sealed West Laurens’ eighth overall win as it improved to 6-2 in region play. The Raiders get second if Howard beats Westside-Augusta on Saturday, third if the Patriots win. Baldwin (5-4/5-2) visits (2-7/2-5) Richmond Academy, and wins a tiebreaker with Westside-Augusta for third but loses one with West Laurens.
