Games of the week

Howard, 4-5/3-4, at Westside-Augusta, 7-2/5-2, Saturday
Whether any math with a win puts Howard in the playoffs or not, winning the last game of the season matters, and having a .500 season is relevant. Beating a good team will always matter. The question: Will Howard come out with a statement to make, or mail it in? Regardless, they have to learn composure, after bad and good, and stop giving away yards.
TSR pick: Westside by 3 (Upset watch)

East Laurens, 3-6/2-6, at Southwest, 3-6/3-5 (Ed DeFore)
A playoff game in Region 4-A/I. East Laurens appears to clinch an at-large spot with a win, which would knock Southwest out. Keeping tabs on QB Tylan Snead will be a task for the Patriots.
TSR pick: East Laurens by 6

GIAA

Class AAAA

5. Tattnall, 7-2, at 4. Bethlehem Christian, 10-0
The Trojans showed how good they can be when healthy en route to a 20-3 halftme lead against FPD. They then showed that they have to stay on point in all phases to stay good, assorted stumbles leading to a scoreless second half and 27-20 overtime loss. The winner of this game probably gets FPD, or an open door to the final, so one would expect Tattnall to be focused.
TSR pick: Tattnall by 2

9. Strong Rock, 6-4, at 1. FPD, 9-1
Strong Rock will do enough to keep FPD on its toes for awhile, may even take an early lead. Last time that happened at FPD, the visiting team went home very unhappy. The Vikings are pretty much at full strength, physically and mentally, which may lead to a running clock. Maybe.
TSR pick: FPD by 25

6. Stratford, 7-3, at 3. Brookstone 6-3
The Eagles may have had too much time off, finishing a week before everybody else and then having the regular playoff week off. When you’ve lost three of your last five, that’s a lot of time for things to fester, and not in a positive way. But the chance to beat two higher seeds and then maybe play a city rival for the championship should be motivation.
TSR pick: Stratford by 2 (Upset special)
