Games of the week
Baldwin, 4-2/1-1, at No.4 Perry, 6-1/3-0
The Braves remain something of a 4-2 enigma, thumped by Spalding and scraping by Howard on consecutive weeks. Perry is not an enigma, one of Central Georgia’s few truly consistent teams, one that knows this is, at least on paper, a region contender, and a team it can’t afford to lose to.

Peach County, 2-4, at No. 4 Mary Persons, 6-1/1-0
The last time the Bulldogs were this good – ranked but not overranked – and played Peach County, they went 1-2. But Peach County was ranked back then, too (2016-17-18). The Trojans are now in a slump, not unlike what the Bulldogs were in after that run. Mary Persons can’t overlook Peach County, because who knows when Peach County may start playing like Peach County? The Bulldogs don’t want to find out.

The spread is big, but how long Taylor County can stay competitive is worth watching.

Stratford, 4-3/1-0 at John Milledge, 6-0
A year ago, the Eagles had the Trojans on their heels, up only 14-7 late in the fourth quarter but Stratford on JMA’s side of the field, only for John Milledge to take advantage of a tipped batted backward pass and take it the distance for a 21-7 win. Neither team is on the same level as last year, which means a similar result.
