Around/About Central Georgia

GMC falls in opener to No. 1

Florida Southwestern only outhit GMC by three, but the Bucs did more with those hits and took advantage of two errors for an 8-0 win in six innings Tuesday afternoon in the NJCAA national tournament in Yuma, Ariz.

GMC’s top four batters got hits, but the rest of the lineup went 0 for 10. Lily Griffith went 2 for 3 for the Bulldogs. Jana Shellhorse regrouped after FSW got two in the bottom of the first, and then after giving up two in the third and one in the fourth, keeping the Bucs from a big inning.

GMC (38-22) takes on Southern Idaho, a 5-0 loser to Chattanooga State, at noon Wednesday in an elimination game.
