Henley makes cut after roller coaster round
Every so often, Russell Henley has a round that no doubt gives him a major headache.
Like Friday.
After a 2-over front nine, Henley squeezed in only two pars amid three birdies and four bogeys on the back nine to finish at a 3-over 73 and in a logjam at 53rd.
Among those missing the cut: Kevin Ksiner, Harry Higgs, Russell Knox, Dustin Johnson, Scottie Scheffler, Adam Scott, Jason Dufner, Hudson Swafford, and Patrick Cantlay.
He dropped drastically in greens in regulation in a day, from 72.2 percent to 44.4, and his driving accuracy dropped from 78.6 percent to 50 percent.
Had Henley been able to trade two bogeys for pars, he’d be in the top 30. Of the 79 players who made the cut, only 29 are even or below par.
