The Wildcats own the series, winning 51 times in 71 games, and eight of the last nine.

They’ll try to continue that after sealing a winning season under first-year head coach Shawn Gibbs. FVSU is up to No. 3 in the HBCU Division II coaches poll. The Wildcats are 6-1, 3-1 in the SIAC East, behind 5-0 Benedict.

CAU (3-4/2-3) has won two straight, 42-41 over Allen and 21-12 over Savannah State.

The No. 9 Bulldogs step out of junior college play to take on nearby club team Gordon State on alumni weekend.

GMC is 5-1, and was off last week after thumping Louisburg 31-7.

The 6-0 Highlanders’ website roster doesn’t list hometowns, so determining Central Georgians who will may take the field in Milledgeville isn’t possible.

Head coach Kevin Adkins has been around. The Macon County grad was the head coach, owner, and CEO of the Georgia Doom, an indoor football team based in Macon that suddenly suspended operations in 2019, ending a tumultuous and shaky existence that included not participating in the American Arena League playoffs because the team couldn’t afford it, after he fired the head coach.
