Around/About Central Georgia
Baldwin-Southwest first area game victim of the week
Baldwin had a game, lost a game, a home game on its new turf, got a new game, but now gets to negotiate Atlanta on a Friday.
COVID led to the cancellation of the Braves’ home opener on Friday against Southwest, the second game this season the Patriots have had cancelled because of COVID.
It’s also the second for Baldwin, which now trades the 0-1 Class AA Patriots for Class 7A Brookwood. The Region 4 Broncos are 1-1, and had their game with Walton cancelled, leaving the opening. Baldwin had a bye scheduled for Sept. 17, but is looking for a game.
Brookwood is Baldwin’s first 7A opponent in program history. The GHSA added the seventh class in 2016.
Dublin’s game at Wheeler County has been moved to Saturday at 1 p.m.
