Obit: Sam Shortz coached basketball all over the area
The Windsor community as well as the area basketball community are mourning the death of coach Sam Shortz.
Shorts died last week after a short illness.
As per a Windsor Facebook post on Sept. 23: ââCoach Samâ has been a part of the Windsor Family as a community coach in basketball and track, AAU basketball coach, and general supporter of our students for nearly a decade. This is a devastating loss not only for our current student body but for all of the families, alumni, faculty and staff who have known his infectious smile, superlative attitude, kind words or gestures, and desire to win both in competition and in life.â
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help with medical and funeral expenses.
According to info on the web, Shortz coached at Mount de Sales and Windsor as well as with the Macon Bucks AAU team.
The Macon Bucks also posted updates on Shortz, who apparently went into the hospital only a few days before his death.
On Sept. 21: âOur beloved Coach Sam is in the hospital in ICU and is need of our prayers! We would like to ask you all to keep him, his medical team, his family, friends and players in your thoughts and prayers! He has touched and blessed the lives of so many, let's show him some love and lift him up in prayer! We love you Coach! Samuel Pookie Shortz III.â
