Henley off to another good start

After a good trip to San Diego and then another good one in Connecticut, Russell Henley is enjoying things so far in Silvis, Ill.

Henley is in a logjam tied at 12th with nearly 20 others, four shots behind co-leaders Sebastian Munoz and Chesson Hadley, in the John Deere Classic.

Henley had five birdies to one bogey for a 4-under 67. It’s his third straight opening-round 67, following good starts in the U.S. Open and Travelers. Henley finished tied for 13th and tied for 19th in those two tournaments.

The 32-year-old shot a 19-under 265 in the 2019 John Deere and finished second to Dylan Frittelli, two shots back, and picked up $648,000.

Savannah continues dominance of Macon

A five-run first launched Savannah to a 9-0 win over visiting Macon in Coastal Plain action.

The Bananas have won four straight over the Bacon, by a 41-3 margin with three shutouts. Savannah leads the season series 10-3.

The teams play in Macon on Friday.
