Macon gets first win of the season
The Bacon have had leads this season, and lost them all en route to an 0-6 start.
So a 2-1 lead over Lexington after five was not much to get excited about. But Macon added a run in the seventh and got the pitching down the stretch from Sam Portnoy and Jeremy Cook for a 3-1 road win in Coastal Plain League action.
It was a small-ball night with both teams getting five hits. Lexington had two errors, one that helped the Bacon to two in the fifth. A bases loaded hit batter led to one run, and a sacrifice fly from Ashton Roy a batter later brought in the other run.
Logan Fink (Tattnall) opened the seventh by getting hit, and scored an insurance run later that inning.
Macon hosts Lexington on Thursday, visits Savannah on Friday and hosts the Bananas on Saturday.
