Central Georgians earn golf all-state honors

          Nearly a dozen golfers from eight Central Georgia schools have made the Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association all-state teams.

          The association doesn’t have one story or list, and its website hasn’t been updated recently, but the full teams are listed in a stream of Facebook posts.

          From Central Georgia:

          Class 4A: Jenny Pyon, Rutland; Kate Belote, West Laurens; Aaron Stock, Perry; Andrew Reyes, Perry

          Class AAA: Trey Kelly, Upson-Lee

          Class AA: Lucy Wiegert, Bleckley County; Ty Cranford, Bleckley County

          Class A Public: J.D. Judd, ACE

          Class A Private: Trey Mixon, FPD; Peter Garud, Stratford, honorable mention

 

Alumni Update

Washington County grad Gray makes Olympics basketball roster

          Allisha Gray is heading to the Tokyo Olympics as part of the USA’s FIBA 3 on 3 team.

          The Washington County grad is on a team with Stefanie Dolson(UConn/Chicago), Kelsey Plum (Washington/Las Vegas), and Katie Lou Samuelson (UConn/Seattle Storm).

          The U.S. team went 6-0, beating Spain 21-13 in the final game on Sunday.

          This is the first year that 3x3 basketball is part of the Olympics.

          Gray is also on the 32-player pool competing for a spot on the US women’s national team.
