Middle Georgia State soccer in title game
MGSU’s women’s soccer team, ranked 24th in the final NAIA regular-season poll, beat Faulkner 2-0 to advance to the Southern States Athletic Conference women’s soccer tournament championship for the first time in program history.
The Knights and Eagles were tied for 58 minutes, until Miagh Downey scored on penalty kicks three minutes apart. MGSU held Faulkner to only three shots, the Knights putting 14 shots on goal.
The second-seeded Knights play top seed Williams Carey on Friday at 4 p.m. in Montgomery, Ala.
