Former Mary Persons football standout dies in car wreck

Jadereius Hamlin, who was an all-state offensive lineman at Mary Persons in 2008, died early Monday morning after a two-car accident southeast of Nashville, Tenn.

Hamlin was a four-year regular and two-year starter at Middle Tennessee State who earned All-Sun Belt freshman honors in 2010. He played for Rodney Walker at Mary Persons, earning two all-region picks and competing in track. He is on the school’s Wall of Fame.

As per media reports: the 29-year-old was driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 24 and sideswiped a GMC Sierra pickup truck around 2 a.m. He lost control of his Camaro, went through a fence and crashed in a wooded area south of Antioch.

He was not wearing a seatbelt. Nobody else was injured.

His Facebook page indicates he was in a relationship and was the father of two young sons.
