Bacon bop Bananas

Two runs in the sixth put Macon on top for good in a 4-1 win over a split Savannah squad Saturday night.

Austin Deming, Cassius Young, and J. Fullerton teamed to go 7 for 11 in the 4-5-6 spots in the lineup, accounting for all but two of the Bacon’s hits. West Laurens grad Bill LeRoy had two of Savannah’s seven hits.

Savannah pitchers fanned 11 with two walks and nine hits, while the Bacon whiffed 12 and walked two. Fraser Ellard had half of the strikeouts and got the win.

Macon is off Sunday and hosts Savannah on Monday.

Dublin holds championship ring ceremony

Players were posting pictures on social media as soon as they got the rings, head coach Roger Holmes said. The Shamrock Bowl hosted the GHSA 2019Class AA champs’ ceremony on Friday, a day before graduation.
