Westfield names an interim football coach, adds ex-Northside boss Kinsler

February isn't supposed to be a busy month for high school football programs, but that's not the case at Westfield.
Last week, head coach Bruce Lane resigned after one season.
Wednesday, the school announced that Rob Fitzpatrick will take over as interim head coach, doing so amid his duties as head baseball coach.
More eyebrow-raising is the addition of longtime Northside mainstay Kevin Kinsler as an assistant football coach and physical education/weight training teacher.
Kinsler retired from his alma mater, Northside, after the 2019 season with a 100-28 record as head coach after two decades as an assistant. He led the Eagles to the Class 5A state championship in 2014 and to the 6A championship game in 2018.
βWe are excited to have Rob Fitzpatrick heading up our football program and know that his excitement and energy, along with his knowledge of football and successful leadership skills, will be a very positive influence for our students and staff,β said Westfield Head of School William Carroll in a school release. βThe addition of Coach Kinsler to our athletic program is exciting as well. We believe his experience, reputation, and success as a coach will be a great asset to our football program.β
