Central Georgia high school, college, and pro football fans may want to peek in more on coverage of the NFL Combine more this year than ever.
The area is seriously represented at the yearly gathering, with four Central Georgians on hand.
John Milledge’s Harrison Bryant, Warner Robins’ Marquez Callaway, Stratford’s Quintez Cephus, and Houston County’s Jake Fromm are in Indianapolis hoping to raise their draft stock.
All four will be under the microscope on Thursday when on-field workouts begin with tight ends, quarterbacks, and wide receivers. The session is from 4-11 p.m. on the NFL Network.
The first three days of the combine involved physicals, interviews with position coaches, weight-ins, psychological testing, team interviews, and media sessions.
NFL.com gives a rating to each prospect, and Bryant had the highest of the four, in the “will be a starter within first two seasons” category. All four are expected to make teams.
The rankings:
Bryant, 6.44
Fromm, 6.29
Cephus, 6.28
Callaway, 5.88
Bryant has been a huge breakout player at Florida Atlantic, and dominated the postseason honors list, topped by being a first-team All-American and winner of the John Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end.
He made Conference USA’s all-freshman team, and then first- or second-team all-conference the next three years.
