This week's Honor Roll

          Shakerra Geter helped FVSU to a 2-1 week and is the SIAC softball player of the week.

          She went 5-for-10 with five RBI and four runs.

          The Wildcats host Paine on Friday to open a weekend series. ...

          Caroline Snider, a senior from Brentwood, racked up her third Peach Belt player-of-the-week honor of the season.

          She hit .583 in four games, with five runs and four RBI, stealing four bases without getting caught. The last Bobcat to take three POW honors was All-American Sherquita Bostick in 2009.

          The 25-10 Bobcats host Francis Marion on Saturday. ...

          Georgia College's Cam Hill is the Peach Belt baseball freshman of the week after batting .571 with seven runs and three RBI. He had a .684 on-base percentage, and had three doubles and a triple. It's his second FOW honor this year. ...

          Kaedy Borst of GMC is the GCAA player of the week. The sophomore hit .615, had an OBP of .643, drove in five runs and stole five bases in four games.

 

This week's signings

          Catching up: Chattahoochee Valley CC has dipped into Central Georgia for another future women's basketball player.

          LaShauna Coley became the second Dodge County player in a week to sign with CVCC. Coley missed the early part of the season with illness, but bounced back to average 10.6 points a game, becoming an even bigger impact player after the early-season injury to Aniya Black.

          Europe Brown signed two weeks ago with CVCC.

 

Last week's signings

          Three players from Monticello signed to continue their softball careers on Wednesday.

          Outfielder Mackenzie Tripp, who hit .389 with 22 RBI and 19 steals last year and had three homers in the championship tournament, is headed to Brewton Parker.

          Two-time all-state shortstop Lacey Rutledge, who batted .408 with three homers and 26 RBI, has signed with Georgia Highlands.

          And 2017 Dugout Club Class AA player of the year Mia Jenkins, four-time all-region and two-time all-state pick, signed with Troy.

          The Hurricanes finished third in AA last season. ...

          Rutland's multi-sport standout Bre’Asia Davis won't be far from home, signing with Wesleyan for softball. ...

          Veterans girls track standout A'Mira Askew signed with Missouri State of the Missouri Valley Conference.

 

Last week's Honor Roll

          Sarah Middleton of GMC is the GCAA pitcher of the week after going 2-0 with a save in 11.2 innings, with 10 strikeouts, two walks, and a .63 ERA. ...

          Mercer graduate senior Kel Johnson is the Southern Conference player of the week after a quality four-game stretch.

          He hit .350 with four homers and 10 RBI against Savannah State and Binghamton. Johnson has reached based in 20 straight games, and tops the conference with 10 homers and 27 RBI.
