Jones County 5, Whitewater 2
The Greyhounds led from the start, and eased into control with a two-run sixth. Mackenzie Kilpatrick and Stephanie Youngblood had two hits each and drove in two runs, Kilpatrick scoring twice. Savannah Williams went the first 4.1 innings, striking out four with no walks and six hits. Destin Howard finished it off with five strikeouts, two walks, and two hits.

No. 9 GMC 4, No. 3 Marion County 0
The Bulldogs took the lead with two in the third and and that was enough. Riley Barsby drew a two-out walk, and Whitley Ward followed with a double. Mary Katherine Lawrence brought both in with a first-pitch double to left. Marion County got a one-out double in the bottom half only for GMC to turn an inning-ending double play. The Bulldogs sealed it with two in the seventh.
The Eagles threatened in the bottom of the fifth with two no-out runners, but winning pitcher Bella Herring got three straight outs. Herring managed only two strikeouts, while the Bulldogs went down on strikes 12 times. Ward had two hits and two runs, while Lawrence and Herring had two RBI each.
Commerce 9, GMC 1
Class A Private
No. 5 Mount de Sales 3, No. 4 Stratford 2
Jordyn Partain had two hits and an RBI at the plate and struck out 10 against a walk and five hits for the Cavs in their first win this season in four tries over Stratford. Sarah Hatcher had two hits for Mount de Sales, which outhit Stratford 9-5 and stranded six runners. Kenna McElmurray fanned three with two walks in getting the loss. Stratford led 1-0 after one, but the Cavs got two in the third on a walk, single, and RBI single from Partain, and a run-scoring double from C Nepveaux. The team traded runs in the sixth, Partain sitting down the Eagles on 11 pitches in the bottom of the seventh.
2 p.m.: No. 2 Tattnall vs. No. 10 Mt. Paran Christian
The Trojans went from down 3-1 after four to up 6-3 after five, adding an insurance run. Mount Paran was outhit 13-5 and committed three errors. Kenna Epps went the distance for the win, with four strikeouts and two walks against five hits. The Trojans were fanned eight times, but got three hits from Jaelyn Darley and Epps, and two from Courtney Ball. Epps and Ball drove in two runs each and Darley scored three times for the 25-7 Trojans. Tattnall pieced together singles from Logan Oller, Darley, Ball, Lindsey Paul, Epps, and Kaci Paul plus a passed ball for the big fifth.
Mount de Sales 4, No. 1 Wesleyan 2
The Cavs knocked off top seed Wesleyan with a clutch three-run seventh inning, and then Chloe Nepveux needing 13 pitches - with a batter reaching on an error - to finish off Wesleyan in the seventh and break a 29-game winning streak in dumping the defending champs. Mount de Sales score all three in the seventh with two outs. Peyton Barfield single, advanced Heartly Nepveux - a leadoff single - to third. An error brought in a run, and then McKenna Smith drove in two more runs. Chloe Nepveux sat down 13 Wesleyan batters, with two walks and five hits, the Cavs being struck out 12 times.
George Walton 4, Tattnall 0, 11 innings
A phenomenal pitchers duel suddenly became a big-inning game, George Walton going from scoreless for 10 innings to putting four across in the top of the 11th - on an error, single, hit batter, single, walk, and single - and then shutting down Tattnall on 14 pitches in the bottom of the 11th for the big win. Kaitlyn Hallman and Kenna Epps had two hits each for the Trojans offense. GW's Taylor Tinsley had a monster night in the circle, striking out 21 batters with no walks and four hits on only 134 pitches, albeit nine more than Epps.
