Note: Rutland delayed the start of its Region 4-3A game with Pike County to allow the softball team to attend the visitation of Dylan Thomas, a Pirate football player who died Sunday, two days after suffering a head injury in a football game against Peach County.

ACE 14, Lake Oconee 2

          ACE, which scored seven in the first, was led by Lizzy Mitchell’s two hits and four RBI.

Bleckley County 8, East Laurens 6

          The Royals survived five errors, thanks to Abbey Sims’ grand slam in the sixth. Sims, Caroline Thrower, and Bailey Odom had three hits each for Bleckley County, Elisia Vickers adding two in 3-AA tournament action. Hailey Knowls and deAsia Lowther had two hits each for East Laurens, Lowther driving in three runs.

Central 18, Westside 1; Jackson 17, Central 1

Region 3-4A action.

Coffee 3, Northside 0; Coffee 13, Northside 1

          Coffee stranded 10 runners and Northside six in 1-6A tournament action. The Eagles committed eight errors in the nightcap, and 12 runs were unearned.

Dodge County 4, Bleckley County 1

          The Indians (24-4) defended their 3-AA title after powering three runs in the sixth after both scored one in the first. Aniyah Black walked, advanced on a grounder and scored on ane error on Jade Dowdy’s fly. Two passed balls brought in Dowdy, and Logan White, who walked, came in on a bases-loaded walk to Jenna Hickman. Black had two of third-ranked Dodge County’s five hits. Landa Dominy had three of Bleckley County’s seven.

East Laurens 10, Washington County 2

          EL scored five in the first, and that was enough, despite three errors. DeAsia Lowther struck out six in the five-inning no-hitter, adding her own homer, which happened to be a grand slam.

Howard 10, Perry 0

          A seven-run second was more than enough for Howard. Elle Doolittle threw a two-hitter and Megan Sharpe belted a grand slam for the Huskies. Abby Mitchell and Haleigh Vaughn had two hits each for Howard, and Beth Dorough added two RBI.

Jones County 8, Union Grove 0; Locust Grove 3, Jones County 2

          The Hounds lost the nightcap with a walkoff one-out single in the bottom of the seventh after tying the game on a single and error that put a the game-winnng run on second. The Greyhounds were held to two hits in the game, whie Locust Grove stranded nine. In the first 4-5A game for Jones County, the Greyhounds clinched it with four in the third. Savannah Williams got the win, boosted by Destin Howard’s two-hit, three RBI game, and two-hit nights from Mayson Watford, Kloey Goins, Mackenzie Kilpatrick and Stephanie Youngblood, Brenay Howard adding two RBI.

Lee County 8, Houston County 6; Houston County 8, Lee County 0

          Lee County put six up on the second inning, and then held off a HoCo rally in the seventh of the Region 1-6A tourney game. Lee County got the final out in the top of the seventh with two runners on in the first game. Madi Campbell had three hits and two runs and Jamie Benda three hits, with two each from Alice Thomas and Kenly Sullivan. In the nightcap, the Bears got enough with five in the first. Campbell had two hits and two runs, and Bobbi Poff two hits. Rylee Lamb mowed through the lineup with a five-strikeout four-hitter.

Perry 10, Howard 7

          The Panthers put it away, mostly, with four runs in the fifth after Howard came back from 5-0 down to tie it at 6. Abby Ussery and Miranda Lawhorn had three hits each for the Panthers, Ussery driving in five runs and Terra Odom adding two hits and three runs. Elle Doolittle had three hits for Perry, Karli Buchanan and Haleigh Vaughn two hits each in 2-4A play.

Piedmont 12, Fullington 3

          Haley Ann Frank had four hits and Madison Johsnon three, and Fleming Sealy three RBI to lead Piedmont.

Rutland 3, Pike County 2

          Rutland delayed the start of the game until Pike County could attended the visitation of PC football player Dylan Thomas, who died Sunday night from a football related injury. The Hurricanes took a 3-1 lead after one, and then the the pitching duel took over. The Pirates scored again in the bottom of the seventh on a two-out error and then a double to left, but right-fielder Karly Douglas gunned down a runner at third to end it. Breasia Davis went 3-for-4 for Rutland, and Bailey Caldwell drove in two runs, and fanned six with no walks for the complete-game win.

Tattnall 5, GMC 3

          The Trojans played small ball and scored in three straight innings to win. Madyson Atwater led the Trojans offense with three hits, while Kenna Epps had tow hits and two RBI and Logan Oller two hits. Whitley Ward and Cade Bass each had two hits for GMC. Epps struck out two with no walks in the complete-game win.

Tattnall 11, Stratford 2

          For four innings, it was quite the pitchers duel, the Trojans leading 1-0 in the Region 7-A elimination game. Then, kaboom. Tattnall blew up for 10 runs in the fifth. An error, Hailey Hallman single, bit batter was followed by a two-run single from Kaitlyn Hallman. Logan Oller then hit a two-run single, as did Madyson Atwater after the bases were gain loaded, putting Tattnall up 7-0. Kenna Epp got the win, giving up eight hits. Kaitlyn Hallman drove in five runs with three hits, while Epps and Hailey Hallman had two hits, Oller and Atwater driving in two runs each.
