Top catcher award goes to Tech’s Bart

            Former Georgia Tech star Joey Bart, the No. 2 pick of the MLB draft earlier this month, added the award as the nations top college catcher to his resume.

 

Mayhem continue to bolster the roster

          Macon signed a pair of defensemen to training camp contracts on Thursday.

          Larry Smith and Richard Coyne will be at training camp with Macon.

          Smith spent a little time with the Mayhem during the 2017-18 season, and Coyne was with Mississippi of the SPHL the past few seasons, including time with Macon head coach Leo Thomas, then as a player.

          Smith played in college at Division I Niagara and Coyne with Division II College of St. Scholastica.

          Russell Henley has the weekend off and isn’t competing in the TPC Potomac. He finished tied for sixth in last week’s Travelers. He’s ranked 47th in the world. ...

          Thursday’s home doubleheader between Macon and Lexington County has been called off because of weather.

         

 

This Week’s Signings

          Lineman and tight end Bruce Guyton of Dublin will take his skills to the northern part of the state, signing Thursday with Shorter.

         The 6-2, 255-pound two-sport standout Guyton had 61 tackles as a senior, with 14 QB pressures and 12 tackles for loss. He was a Georgia Athletic Coaches Association first-team all-state defender, and led the team in snaps.
 

          The Hawks had a couple Central Georgia underclassmen on last year’s roster: fullback Artie Gardner of Warner Robins and defensive back Jaren Harris of Central. Peach County’s Ethan Mann joined on signing day.
