Monday's Braves Report: Another walk-off win in extras; All-Star update; a confident team

Walk-off win for the Braves, and it wasn’t’ Culberson

Ozzie Albies yanked a low fastball over the right-field wall on the first pitch of the inning to give Atlanta a 5-4 11-inning win over Cincinnati.

The Reds brought in Dylan Floro for Jared Hughes on the mound, and the appearance lasted one pitch as the seven-game winning streak came to an end after a rain delay.

Atlanta took a 2-0 lead after one, and the Reds tied it in the sixth.

Albies went 3-for-6 with two runs and two RBI. Nick Markakis added a 2-for-4 night.

Mike Foltynewicz went five innings and gave up a hit and a run. Winning pitcher Luke Jackson was the Braves’ seventh pitcher of the night.

Albies entered Friday 11-for-72 with seven doubles and two homers in June. He's since gone 10-for-17 w/ one extra-base hit -- tonight's first-inning RBI double./MB

Folty has thrown 65 pitches in 3 hitless innings (4 walks will help get that pitch count up). 36 strikes in 65 pitches./DOB

Folty's arm appeared fine during his 24-pitch scoreless first. His 4-seamer touched 99.3 mph and averaged 98.1 mph. The last pitch of his 10-pitch walk to Votto shows how close he was to getting through the first in perfect fashion./MB

Sounds like Acuna is likely to be with Triple-A team for most or all of its series in Norfolk that starts today. But they're not saying for sure./DOB

Stop me if you've heard the one about the Braves pitcher who creates a no-hit bid in his first start back from the DL. Like Soroka and Teheran, Folty will not go the distance. He's thrown 77 pitches through four hitless innings./MB

Snit said he liked what he was getting from his top 2 in #Braves order.
Fifth inning, Inciarte leadoff single and Albies double. 2 in scor. pos for
Freeman with none out./DOB

The Braves lead the NL with 261 extra-base hits. They 16 more doubles than any other club. As you may have expected, Albies (NL-best 41), Freeman (38) and Markakis (33) have accounted for about 43 percent of this total./MB

Snit said Phillips was sent back down because they needed a long reliever (Sims) available in case Folty's arm forced an early exit. Some relievers needed a break after this weekend. But by gambling w/ Sims there, they may now still have to dig into that pen./MB

LeBron will have picked his team by the time this game ends./GB
