Central Georgian headed to College World Series
The dream season for Gabe Holt continues.
The Veterans alum went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI to help Texas Tech to a 6-2 win over Duke in the rubber game of their NCAA Super Regional and sent the Red Raiders to Omaha.
Texas Tech, 44-18, is making its third trip to the College World Series in five years, and the Big 12 freshman of the year has played a huge role.
The Red Raiders beat Duke – which dispatched Georgia in the regional – 6-4 on Saturday, but were then thumped 11-2 on Sunday to force the third game. Holt was caught stealing for the first time this season on Sunday, and is now 29-of-30 on steals.
Holt got Texas Tech going on Monday with a solo homer to right in the bottom of the third. He added an RBI single in the eighth, and then scored as the Red Raiders sealed it.
Holt added a little bit to his .349 average, and is sixth on the with six homers and sixth with 41 RBI.
