College Baseball: Mercer gets late offense to dump ETSU

          The Bears turned a 4-1 deficit after seven innings into an 8-4 win over ETSU to sweep the series.

          Mercer improved to 23-6 overall and 5-1 in the Southern Conference as four pitchers teamed for a 4-hitter to overcome two Bear errors.

College Baseball: Georgia College completes Florida trip with another win

          Georgia College got the offense, defense, and pitching to beat Florida Tech 8-3 to sweep the series.

          The Bobcats got boosts from Cal Gentry (Perry), Trevor Evans (John Milledge), and Caleb Slaughter (Bleckley County).

College Baseball: Georgia Tech brings the lumber (OK, metal) to romp of Miami

          The Yellow Jackets put it away with 6 in the eighth, outhitting the Hurricanes 14-6.

College Baseball: Texas A&M avoids sweep by Georgia

          Georgia's nine-game winning streak came to an end as Texas A&M salvaged the trip to Athens with a win.

          The Bulldogs managed just 5 hits against the Aggies.

College Softball: Mercer rolls to second straight conference sweep

          Stella Preston gave up only two hits in the 4-1 complete-game win for Mercer, now off to a 6-0 Southern Conference start

Pro Hockey: Mayhem get early lead and maintain
    Back home, Macon got the first career pro goal from Jake Faiella en route to a 4-1 win over Fayetteville.

MLB: Braves bounce Phillies

     Atlanta's offense was more than there in the Braves' 15-2 win over Philadelphia Saturday.

          The Knights' Demarquez Carter signed a football letter with Union College in Kentucky.

          Bleckley County's Ellie Wortham has signed to play volleyball at Andrew College.

          Franziska Nobis of Middle Georgia State is the Southern States Athletic Conference women's tennis player of the week. She helped the 13th-ranked Knights beat No. 24 Reinhardt 6-3, winnng 6-0 and 7-6 in singles and 9-7 at No. 1 doubles.

          She is the fifth MGSU tennis player honored this season. ...

          Middle Georgia State's Darrell White, a former standout at Peach County, was named NAIA All-American honorable mention recently. White averaged 16.3 points a game, shooting 48.1 percent from the foor and 80.3 from the line. He was also a first-team all-conference pick. ...

          Haley Tierce, a junior from Houston County, is the latest Peach Belt Conference softball player of the week. The infielder got hits in all eight of Georgia Southwestern's games, batting .429 with 5 homers and 13 RBI. She fanned only once in 28 at-bats. Tierce is tied for the league lead with 12 homers. ...

          Middle Georgia State's Madison Staniloiu is the Southern States Athletc Conference softball player of the week after batting .529 with 3 homers and 8 RBI.
