For the sixth time in seven years, Mercer is in the men's basketball postseason.

The Bears take on Grand Canyon on Wednesday in the College Basketball Invitational.

Grand Canyon is coached by longtime NBA sharpshooter Dan Majerle, whose Lopes are 22-11, losing in the Western Athletic Conference tournament finale to New Mexico State. Majerle is 103-57 at GCU, a school of nearly 20,000 in Phoenix, Ariz. that plays in the 7,000-seat GCU Arena.

The Bears are 18-14, an eight-game winning streak snapped in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament.

Mercer women to host NCAA selection show watching party

A little more than a week after assuring their presence for the NCAA Tournament, Mercer's women will host a party Monday night for the NCAA's selection show.

Doors to Hawkins Arena will open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Attendees will have free Krispy Kreme donuts to dine on.

Mercer has won 27 straight games and is 30-2 after rolling through the Southern Conference Tournament.

ESPN projects Mercer as a 13 seed playing N.C. State in Raleigh, along with former A-Sun rival Florida Gulf Coast, a 12 seed facing South Florida.

Collegesportsmadness.com also has the Bears facing the Pack in Raleigh, with Georgia playing Western Kentucky.
