Tucker's girls thought they were in the quarters, and Grovetown and Bradwell are alive
All of a sudden, teams that thought their seasons were over aren’t, and a team preparing for a quarterfinal game is out.
The GHSA announced on Monday that Tucker’s girls are out of the GHSA Class 6A state tournament after an investigation uncovered the violation of by-law 170 on “recruiting and undue influence.”
Thus, the 21-9 Tigers are having their postseason vacated, opening up a complex scenario.
As per the GHSA:
“• The Tucker at Harrison game originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 27 is hereby cancelled.
• Grovetown, which lost to Tucker in the first round, will have the opportunity to play at Bradwell Institute (defeated by Tucker in the second round) on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
• The winner of the Grovetown vs. Bradwell game will then play at Harrison on Thursday, March 1 in a quarterfinal round game with the winner advancing to the semifinals, to be played as scheduled at West Georgia College on March 3.
• Game times in the above rescheduled games shall be made by the opposing schools.”
The change has no impact on the 6A, although Houston County lost 42-28 to Bradwell in the first round.
