Thursday's high school basketball, final edition; major Saturday showdown coming?

1 a.m. update, final edition

          There could be a huge showdown Saturday in Allatoona if two area teams win Friday night.

          Warner Robins and Upson-Lee are both in the winners bracket of the Lake City Classic at Allatoona, and would meet Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the championship game if they both win Friday.

          Of course, they could meet in the third-place game at 7 p.m. if they both lost.

          Warner Robins is 10-0 and Upson-Lee 14-0 and ranked first in their respective classifications.

          A much shorter drive away, Macon County faces host Northeast in the boys championship of the Alvin Copeland Christmas Classic at 8:30 p.m.

          And Central takes on host Baldwin at 7:30 p.m. in boys action at the Baldwin Holiday Shootout.

          Upson-Lee's girls are off to a good start at 10-4, and they battle Class 2A power Putnam County at 4 p.m. at the Mary Persons Holiday Classic.

          The Chargers put four in double figures to win the battle of ranked teams. Jada Clowers had a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds to go with three blocks. ReNesha Goolsby added 13 points and Tyleia Williams 12, plus seven rebounds, for the Chargers.

          Jamarius Dixon led the Golden Hawks with 18 points, nine rebounds and three assists, plus two steals.

Upson-Lee 80, St. Francis 65, at Lake City Classic/Allatoona

          Tye Fagan went for 30 points and eight rebounds as the Knights won their 46th straight game. Travon Walker added 19 points and eight rebounds, Cameron Traylor 11 points and JaCorey Smith 10 points and six rebounds.
