Henley in top 15 after first round
Russell Henley’s opening round at The Genesis Invitational was notably pedestrian.
In between a birde on No. 3 and on No. 18, Henley crammed in four bogeys and two birdies for an even-par round, good for a tie for 14th.
Henley and five others are only four shots back of leader Denny McCarthy.
The opening round covered everything for Henley on a day of rough weather. He finished the day 56th in shots gained putting and tied for 42nd in putts per greens in regulation, yet tied for first in sand saves and greens in regulation.
The Stratford grad tees off Frida at 2:09 p.m. with J.T Poston and Byeong Hun An.
