Second round a hair bumpier for Henley
For the second straight day, Russell Henley opened with a birdie on a par 5.
Then he followed up with another birdie.
That got a little foggier after that, and Henley finished the second round at the BMW Championship with a 1-over 71, falling into a tie for 15th.
The Stratford grad is 3-under, now 10 shots back of leader Adam Scott, who had a 9-under round.
Henley reeled off five parts between bogeys in the middle of the round, then birdied two out of three holes only to close with a bogey on 17 and par on 18.
A 17-footer for par on No. 6 was off by half a foot. A makeable 11-footer for par on 12 missed by more than a foot, and he was barely off-target on a par try on 17 of 11 feet, 6 inches.
His stats for Friday weren’t nearly as good as Thursday, but still mostly in the top half of the field.
