Macon 5, Florence 4
Pitchers Andrew Lowery, Parker Adkisson, and Brady Pendley kept Florence in check in the final four innings as Macon won its second straight game.
Veterans grad Hunter Varnadoe (Middle Georgia State) got the win, after striking out 7 with 3 walks in 5 innings, allowing all of Florence’s runs but leaving with the Bacon on top.
David Stokley and Lenny Montesano had two hits each for Macon, Jaxon Milam driving in 3 runs.
Macon hosts Catawba on Friday, has road games Saturday and Monday, Macon welcomes Forest City on Tuesday and Lexington County on Thursday.

Nice round for Henley, until the end
Russell Henley was cruising along, sort of, in the first round of the Memorial in Dublin, Ohio.
Through 16 holes, he had two birdies and bogey. But he stumbled after nice tee shots on the final two holes for bogeys and a 1-over 73 for the day.
That put him in a tie for 35th in the 73-player field, but only seven shots back of leader Adam Hadwin.
On No. 17, Henley went from the middle of the fairway to a right bunker and then a right rough, hitting an 8-footer for the bogey.
It was a similar replay on 18: tee to fairway to right bunker to right intermediate, but he just missed a par putt and tapped in for the bogey.
