The Vikings took a shutout into the seventh, having taken a 4-0 lead after 2. B McHugh had 2 hits and 2 RBI. FPD outhit George Walton 11-3 in the nightcap, but three errors and 7 walks along with little timely hitting doomed the Vikings. Keon Johnson and Gavin Spillers each had two hits, Johnson with a homer and 2 RBI.

Cooper Wilburn threw a complete-game 3-hitter in the opener, striking out 6 with 2 walks. David Todd had 2 hits and 2 RBI for the Trojans. Blake Bellflower’s fourth-inning grand slam sparked JMA in the nightcap. Cooper Young and Bud Veal each had 2 hits.

Riley McCollum went 3 for 5 to spark Tattnall’s comeback from a 5-1 deficit. The Trojans took the lead for good with 6 in the third, the teams trading some runs later. Three of Tattnall’s runs were unearned, thanks to 5 errors. Pitchers Wyatt Still and Tucker Brown teamed for 12 strikeouts against 3 walks. Tristan Turner singled to open the bottom of the sixth, and courtesy runner Tate Morris soon scored on Still’s single to put Tattnall up 3-2 in the nightcap.

Ames Johnson had 4 hits anda homer to lead Gatewood in the opener. The Gators outhit Westwood 17-7 in the first-game win.

GMC got revenge of the team that topped the Bulldogs in last year’s title, Tommy Carty scoring twice in less than 10 minutes, including the game winner, with 30 minutes left. GMC tied it just before halftime. Up next is the state championship on Tuesday at Mercer against Atkinson County, which beat Atlanta Classical 4-2.
