Stratford at home for GIAA soccer final
Stratford goes for a state boys soccer title on its home field as host of the GIAA finals.
The Eagles welcome St. Anne-Pacelli at 8 p.m. in the 4A boys championship.
Stratford is 16-0-1 and St. Anne-Pacelli is 12-5.
The teams have four common opponents: Brookstone, Harris County, and Tattnall, SAP twice vs. Brookstone and Stratford against Tattnall twice.
Both teams went undefeated against those four, the Vikings outscoring them 19-2 and the Eagles by a 14-1 margin.
St. Anne-Pacelli’s losses are to LaGrange, Columbus, and McIntosh – to open the season – Heritage, and Blessed Trinity, all GHSA programs.
Stratford’s tie was with Westminster of Augusta.
The Eagles have given up one goal this season, according to MaxPreps, in a 2-1 win in late April.
St. Anne-Pacelli’s boys play Brookstone in the 4A boys final.
Central Fellowship’s girls play Westminster at noon Saturday in the girls AA final, followed by Trinity Christian and Westminster at 2:30 p.m.

Henley off to hot start at Wells Fargo
A bogey-free round bit it pretty early, but Russell Henley turned in a solid Thursday at the Wells Fargo Championship in Charlotte and sits in a tie for fifth.
Henley shot a 3-under 68 and is among seven in a logjam, six starting the tournament in the top 50 in FedExCup rankings.
Henley found water for a bogey on 7, and the left rough for the bogey on 12.
Xander Schauffele countered a bogey witn an eagle for a 7-under 64 and 3-shot lead.
Henley tees off with the final group on Friday at 1:01 p.m., with Lee Hodges and Byeong Hun An.
