Around/About Central Georgia

Time for a parade in Milledgeville

They broke a drought of three decades, and paid tribute to one of the school’s legendary athletes.

Now, a parade is next for the Baldwin girls basketball team, GHSA Class 4A girls basketball state champions.

Baldwin turned in an epic comeback to stun Hardaway 47-39 on March 6 at the Macon Coliseum.

The parade starts at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Milledgeville Police Department on McIntosh, continues on McIntosh onto North Jefferson, then to Hancock St. before a stop at City Hall for a proclamation reading.

From there, it heads to the Magnolia Ballroom at Georgia College.

Henley done after two rounds at Players

There was little momentum to be had for Russell Henley in the second round of The Players Championship.

His weekend was all but done after five holes when his double bogey dropped him to 2 over, en route to a 1-over round.

Henley finished tied for 94th, as did Jordan Spieth. They were on an impressive list of those missing the cut: Luke Lists, Ppatrick Rodgers, Beau Hossler, Justin Thomas, Erik van Rooyen, Eric Cole, Matthiew Pavon, Will Zalatoris, and Byeong Hun An.

Henley started the day with a birdie, followed two holes later by a bogey and two holes after that by the double. He managed a round-ending birdie, after a bogey and birdie on the second nine.

He’s not in the field for next week’s Valspar.
