Henley remains in contention
Treading water is good enough this weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
That’s what Russell Henley did Saturday, and it was good enough to keep him among the leaders after three rounds.
Henley countered three birdies with three bogeys for an even day, and a three-round 209, good for a tie for fourth and only two shots off the lead.
He was 2 over through nine, and got back to even with two birdies on the back nine as weather had some impact for the field of 58. The best score of the day was only 4 under, by Harris English and Rory McIlroy, easing both into the top 10.
Henley’s short game has been sterling, the Stratford grad a perfect 48 of 48 on putts inside of 10 feet this week.
He tees off at 1:15 p.m. Sunday with Hideki Matsuyama in the third-to-last group. The Golf Channel starts at 12:30 p.m. with NBC taking over at 2:30 p.m.
