Tattnall 9, George Walton 7
          A pair of 4-run innings and some better defense propelled Tattnall to the state title.
          George Walton took a 3-0 lead after two, but Tattnall answered with 4 in the third, 3 coming on Gradie Applingโ€™s homer to right. Anna Still then drove in Molly Kemp, who had a two-out double.
          Reese Covington took care of all 4 runs in the fifth with a grand slam to center, bringing in Emma Hicks, Carsyn Atwater, and Annamary Talcott.
          Down 8-4, George Walton got 2 back in the sixth and 1 in the seventh, but Tattnall added an insurance run in the sixth.
          The Trojans sent George Walton to the loserโ€™s bracket on Friday with a 6-5 win, George Walton responding by ending Stratfordโ€™s season with a 10-7 win.
          Tattnall finished 29-5.

Class AAA

Championship: Piedmont 13, Westfield 4; Westfield 26, Piedmont 18, championship, 6 inn.
          The Hornets won their eighth straight state title after a long and wild day.
          The Cougars forced a winner-take-all finale with a big win, sparked by Mackenzie Plunkettโ€™s 2-run homer in the first. Piedmont put it away with 5 in the fourth, 3 coming in on Shaniyah Laneโ€™s hit, and then another 5 in the seventh, Kamie Gibby with a 2-run hit.

          That set up quite the monster of a finale.
          Piedmont led 7-6 after two, and 16-13 after four, the teams combining for 13 runs in that inning alone.
          Then the Hornets went crazy with a 10-run fifth inning on 8 hits, highlighted by Madison Hammockโ€™s grand slam to left. All the runs came with two outs.
          Piedmont got 2 in the bottom half, but the Hornets kept it going with 3 in the top of the sixth.
          Lauren Davidson and Hammock each had 5 hits, Hammock and Cate Raines with two homers each.
          Chloe Hill, Addie Hobbs, Raines, Lindy Hair, and Madeline Katz had 2-hit games for Westfield.
          Marissa Holder drove in 7 runs on 5 hits for the Cougars. Teagan Hinson, Kylee Keck, Shaniyah Lane, Memphis Sweat, and Lily Stowe each had 2-hit games.

Class AA

Championship: Southwest Georgia 15, Brentwood 0
          The War Eagles emerged from an impressive run through the loserโ€™s bracket, but ran out of gas. After losing their second round game to Trinity Christian, Brentwood beat Heritage 8-4, Edmund Burke 18-3, and Trinity Christian 8-0.
