Around/About Central Georgia

Area wrestling teams set for duals

         Nine boys teams from Central Georgia will compete in this weekend’s GHSA state dual wrestling meet throughout the state, starting Friday.

          Jones County in 5A (at Jefferson), West Laurens and Perry are in 4A (at Chestatee), Upson-Lee in 3A (at Lumpkin County), Southwest and Putnam County in AA (at Jeff Davis), with Dublin, Lamar County, and East Laurens in Class A (at Heard County).

          There are no Central Georgia teams in Class 6A or 5A in the tournament.

          The girls go at it next week at West Georgia, with Putnam County, Houston County, and Northside in the 16-team field.

          Jones County opens with Tucker, West Laurens faces Benedictine and Perry has Holy Innocents, while Upson-Lee get Gilmer County.

          Southwest and Putnam County go against each other.

          East Laurens takes on Social Circle, Dublin faces Temple, and Lamar County battles Trion.
