Now we’re talking. Two good weeks of being on point.

After several weeks of some whiffs.

Unfortunately, there’s a feeling some whiffs coming this week.

Some places are dealing with a lot of issues, and places dealing with the suspense, “OK, which group of 15-18 year-olds are gonna show up this week”?

OK, that suspense is pretty much every week, considering the age group, but usually it’s fairly predictable.

Last week, half of the 31 CGA games were decided by 28 points or more. This week, there should be more games like that again as opposed to one-possession games (although two-possession games can be considered pretty close, too).

Region play continues or starts, and that adds to things because a lot of teams are battling for the third and/or fourth spots. And non-region games still offer an idea of what we can almost expect in region.

          Almost.

Games of the Week

No. 6 Lee County, 4-1, at No. 3 Houston County, 5-0, 8 p.m.
A good call by PeachTree TV, and it’s always a nice call when folks venture out of the perimeter and metro Atlanta into the world. And this’ll be a real game. How well can Houston County’s underrated defense slow Ousmane Kromah (117 ypg rushing)? How well can Lee County interrupt the Bears’ pass game of 269.2 yards a week. Pass blocking is the key.
TSR pick: Houston County by 13

No. 6 Manchester,4-1/2-0, at No. 2 Macon County, 4-1/1-1
It’s a must win for Macon County if it wants to avoid a big hole in the race to host a playoff game. The Bulldogs will be favored against Taylor County, the other major contender for one of four spots, and at least need a quality performance.
TSR pick: Macon County by 2

Click on ☝🏼. It’s easy and safe.

FPD, 3-1-1, at GHSA A/I No. 8 Commerce, 4-1,
The Vikings gave the Tigers a battle last year before losing by five, and both teams are better this year.
TSR pick: Commerce by 5

Games of note

Eagle’s Landing, 2-3/1-0, at Jones County, 3-2/1-0
The Greyhounds carry momentum into a game with a team they beat 42-19 last year, But the improved Golden Eagles have some mo, too, and Jones County can’t overlook a team that’s won two straight for the first time since 2017.

TSR pick: Jones County by 19

No. 9 Ola, 4-0, at No. 11 Warner Robins, 2-3/1-0
The Demons are still searching for consistency and an identity, and welcome a team that is a legitimate contender for its first region title in program (starting in 2006) history. Warner Robins better get the offense in gear, and everything  for more than a half, because the Demons might be in a shootout. And Ola’s better than Northside.
TSR pick: Ola by 11

A/1 No. 1 Prince Avenue Christian, 6-0, at No. 5 Mary Persons, 4-1
The Bulldogs are off a huge win, an expectedly huge win, and, frankly, are overranked by a bit (and still the region favorite). It’s a good night if they’re within two touchdowns entering the fourth quarter, which is very doable, but Mary Persons has to get off to a quality start.
TSR pick: Prince Avenue by 16
