College Football Report: FVSU, GMC, UGA, Tech, state schools, South, Southeast, nation
Fort Valley State 34, Edward Waters 31
Kelvin Durham hit Fralon Warren with an 18-yard touchdown pass with 67 seconds left to give the Wildcats the home win in a game with two double-digit leads for only nine minutes and was tied in the fourth quarter.
Veterans grad Daniel Gibbs put the Wildcats up 27-24 with 5:27 left in the game, but Edward Waters answer less than four minutes later with a touchdown pass.
The Wildcats took over on their 36 with 1:31 left.
Durham hit Corintheus Edmonds twice for 46 yards to reach the red zone, then connected with Fraon Warren for the 18-yard touchdown and, after Gibbs’ kick, a lead.
But they left 1:07 left on the clock.
The visitors started on their 41 with 51 seconds left, and lost eight courtesy of Miron Billings’ stuff on first and 10 at the FVSU 42. A pass was incomplete, but the Wildcats held, giving up a first down. EW got to the Wildcats 25, but time ran out.
Former Peach County standout Cedric Hillsman had five tackles for FVSU.
