Macon Touchdown Club set for a slew of HS players of the week: ACE, Central Fellowship, FPD, Howard, Jones County, Northeast, Rutland, Southwest, Tattnall, Westside
The Macon Touchdown Club’s first meeting of the season is Monday night, and it’ll catch up on honoring high school players of the week for the first four weeks.
Week 1
Back: Senior QB Marquise Lattner of Rutland was 8 of 15 passing for 102 yards and a touchdown, rushing 17 times for 116 YDS and a score. His all-purpose yards totaled 218 YDS and two touchdowns in the 26-6 win over Towers.
Lineman: Senior LB Ched Smith of Jones County accounted for 11 tackles and five assists plus a tackle for loss and a forced fumble while playing every defensive snap his team's 33-21 loss to Northside at the Macon Touchdown Club Middle Georgia Kickoff Classic.
Special Teams: Howard senior kicker Garrett Roberts was 6 for 6 on his PATs and added two kickoffs for touchbacks in his team's 42-6 win over Southwest.
Week 2
Back: Junior RB/S Antone Johnson of Tattnall rushed 15 times for 277 yards and four touchdowns. He also added two catches for 36 yards and completed a pass for 19 yards toward 332 all-purpose yards. On defense, he contributed eight tackles in his team's 50-35 loss to defending GIAA 4A state champion St. Anne-Pacelli.
Lineman: FPD junior linebacker Brady Lincoln accounted for 11 tackles and four assists with an interception in the 28-7 loss to Park Lane Academy (MS).
Special Teams: Senior Christian Spielman of Central Fellowship, who plays wingback and safety and return kicks, totaled 151 in return yards, including a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, in his team's 20-18 win over SW Georgia Academy.
Week 3
Back: Sophomore QB Chase Dupree of Southwest was 15 of 23 for 405 yards and three touchdowns and a rushing score in his team's 54-7 win over Pike County.
Back: Junior RB Nick Woodford of Northeast rushed 22 times for 226 yards and two touchdowns, also completing a 15-yard pass for a touchdown in his team's 27-20 road win over GHSA Class AA No. 1 Fitzgerald. It was the Raiders first win over a number one ranked team in school history.
Lineman: Junior LB/FB Christian Hill of Southwest recorded 15 tackles and chipped in a pass deflection in his team's 54-7 win over Pike County. He also added 2 pancake blocks from his fullback position.
Special teams: Tony Mathis, a senior defensive back at Wetside, blocked two punts, both returned for touchdowns, in the Seminoles’ 26-6 win over Morrow.
Week 4
Back: Senior quarterback Kaleb Scarbary of ACE clicked on 13 of 15 passing for 275 yards and six touchdowns his team's 54-0 victory over Spencer.
Lineman: Howard junior linebacker Zelin Pollard racked up 17 tackles and one for loss in the Huskies’ loss at 5A Harris County.
Special teams: Freshman kicker (and linebacker) Dakota Bond of Rutland averaged 47 yards on six punts with no return yards in the Hurricanes’ loss to Westside.
