Henley finishes tournament, season on a high note
The good start and then the regrouping were detoured as Russell Henley couldn’t find any consistency in the final round of the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta.
He was 1 under after nine, and then had two birdies on the first four holes of the back nine, where he double-bogeyed 14 and then finished the season four holes later with an eagle, good for a tie for 14th in the PGA Tour’s season finale.
Henley crept into the top 10 until a bogey on nine, and then battled to stay in the top 20. He was under par for the day after a par on No. 1 en route to a 4-under final round and 9 under for the tournament.
Though in reality, that was a respectable 6 under when ignoring the staggered scoring for the final tournament.
That sends Henley – whose final hole of the PGA season was his third eagle - into the “off season” tied for 14th in FedExCup standings, two spots lower than where he started the week. He remains at No. 28 in the Official World Golf ranking.
He and Sepp Straka each took home $780,000 in tying for 14th.
