Hawkinsville 34, Rutland 20
The homestanding Hurricanes led 20-12 at halftime, but the Red Devils of new head coach Tim Suttles changed the direction early in the second half with a 70-yard touchdown run from Zenard Smith followed by a conversion pass to tie it barely a minute into the third quarter. They pulled ahead at the 4:46 mark on a 1-yarder run from Nelson Singletary. Rutland had the ball near midfield, but turned it over on downs, the Red Devils converted on Smithโs 48-yard run in the final minute of the third quarter. Mistakes sabotaged a Rutland trip to the red zone again, and Hawkinsville stayed in control for its first win.
John Milledge 58, Canton Acad. Miss. 12
The Trojans led in their 52nd straight win 44-0 at halftime.
Parklane, Miss. 28, FPD 7
With their starting quarterback sidelined for reportedly a team academic miscue, FPD dug itself a three-touchdown hole by halftime and was held to its lowest point-total at home since falling 14-7 to Calvary Day in the second round of the 2020 GHSA Class A Private playoffs. Parklane scored twice in the first quarter, on a 3-yard run and 83-yard pass play, and added a 29-yard score throughthe air early in the second quarter. The Vikings avoided the shutout on an 11-yard TD pass from Major Simons to Benjamin McElreath with 4:06 left in the third. FPD was held to 209 yards in total offense, Parklane picking off three passes. Colin Doyle ran for 127 yards on 23 carries for Parklane.

Bad stretch drops Henley further from contention
For a little bit, Russell Henley was on the edge of contention at the Tour Championship.
He improved from a tie for 13th to start the third round to a tie for eighth through 11. Three straight bogeys followed by a day-ending bogey dropped Henley into a tie for 19th at East Lake.
The run came on 13, 14, 15, a day after he double-bogeyed 14. He was 2 under for the day through 12.
A top-20 finish guarantees him at least $640,000, adding to the $6.2 million heโs earned this season.
