Henley has steady round, loses ground
Russell Henley turned in his third straight under-par round, but it didn’t help his standing at The Travelers in Connecticut.
He had three birdies through 12 holes and bogeyed 13 on a par-heavy day, falling into a tie for 41st in a tournament loaded with low scores. He is 7 under with a 203, Keegan Bradley and Chez Reavie first and second, four shots ahead of third.
Henley isn’t in the field for the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit.
Macon rolls Boone
The Bacon took advantage of 10 walks for a 10-0 win over Boone in Coastal Plain action.
Mason Minzey had two of Macon’s five hits, and drove in four runs, Jackson Cherry (Mercer) adding three RBI.
Maxwell Montsplasir and Bradley Pendley teamed for 10 strikeouts and a walk in the four-hitter.
Macon visits Asheboro on Sunday and hosts Florence on Tuesday in a doubleheader.
