Henley, among many, off to sluggish PGA start
Russell Henley has a lot of quality company among those shooting over par in the first round of the PGA Championship in New York.
He’s also among the 30 players whose first round was suspended by darkness on Thursday, so he can start the second round in decent shape.
As it is, Henley’s 2-over round through 15 holes has him in a tie for 42nd, with top-50 players Davis Riley, Brian Harman, Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, and ahead of Jordan Spieth, Tom Kim, Si Woo Kim, and Andrew Putnam, among others.
Eric Cole is 5 under through 14, and Bryson DeChambeau has the lead among those in the clubhouse at 4 under.
Henley’s final hole of the day was his lone par, trying to counter bogeys on 4, 7, and 10.
