Houston County 18, Marist 7
The Bears flexed muscles galore in the deciding game, leading 5-0, watching Marist tie it, and then pulling away with 10 runs over the fifth and sixth innings to advance in 6A. Drew Burress drove in four runs on four hits and scored three times. The Bears got three-hit games from Eli Stephens, Andrew Dunford, Ryker Chavis, and Elijah Smith, with Dunford and Smith driving in three runs each. Kai Decker, Hunter Chiappetta each had two hits and two RBI. Burress, Dunford, and Ryker belted homers in Houston County out hit Marist 21-11 and played error-free defense in improving to 30-5. They’ll host Blessed Trinity (3-2, 10-0 over Allatoona).
Wayne County 9, Perry 2; Wayne County 12, Perry 2
A seven-run fourth put Wayne County in control in the first game, Perry managing only three hits. Wayne County needed only five hits, thanks to eight walks, three wild pitches, and two hit batters. The hosts took early control of the nightcap with four runs in the first two innings, on just one hit, thanks to eight early walks, a wild pitch, and hit batter, plus an error. They blew it open with six in the fourth, aided by three walks and two errors. Perry ends the season 27-8.
Whitewater 17, West Laurens 10
Told once and for all that Game 2 would not be resumed – up 7-6 amid a five-run sixth inning when weather stopped the game Saturday and umpires ruled it an official game, reverting to the previous full inning, a 6-2 Whitewater lead – West Laurens (29-5) got into an early hole, mounted a comeback, and watched Whitewater put it away late.
Whitewater led 5-0 after four, and got five in the top of the fifth only for the Raiders to put up eight runs in the bottom half and pull within two while getting into Whitewater’s bullpen. Jayden Todd belted a grand slam and Kaden Baggett added a two-run single for the Raiders. But the Wildcats regained control with four in the top of the sixth, getting going with a leadoff homer. West Laurens got one back in the bottom half, but Whitewater sealed it with three in the top of the seventh. Baggett had two of the Raiders’ five hits. Six Raider pitchers struck out 11 with eight walks, while four Wildcat pitchers fanned eight and walked nine.

The War Eagles led 8-2 after two in the opener, and put the second game away with consecutive six-run innings.

Mount de Sales 12, Brookstone 6; Mount de Sales 15, Brookstone 8
Bricen Smith drove in six runs with three hits in the first game for Mount de Sales. The Cavs led 7-0 after two in the second game, then 7-6 after the fourth, before putting it away with three-run sixth and seventh innings. Hayden Partain had four hits and Landon Moore four RBI on one hit.

Trinity Christian 5, Briarwood 1; TCS 15, Briarwood 8
A three-run third lifted the Crusaders, who won despite being outhit 6-3, one a two-run double from Luke Godwin. TCS trailed 4-0 after one in the nightcap, then 8-4 after four, only to blow it open with 11 runs in the next two innings. Briarwood’s five errors led to 10 unearned runs. Jim Coleman and Luke Bennett each had three hits for TCS.
