Henley close, but misses cut
For the second week in a row, Russell Henley followed a brutal first round with a solid second round, only to barely miss the cut again.
Henley shot an even-par 71 on Friday, with one birdie and one bogey, a two-shot improvement from Thursday.
A fluctuating cut line late Friday – between even and 1 over - allowed for some teasing, and it was at 1 over when play was yet again suspended.
Fourteen golfers still have to finish the second round. Henley is tied for 71st.
Henley was joined in the early departure by Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Hideki Matsuyama, Xander Schauffele, Alex Smalley, Brian Harman, Taylor Montgomery, Joel Dahmen, Si Woo Kim, and Tiger Woods, among others.
He’s off for next week’s Honda Classic. The Puerto Rican Open follows in the first weekend in March, and then the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
