SEC taps Putnam County’s Kilgore, Upson-Lees Searcy
A pair of Central Georgians were named to the SEC’’s All-Freshman team.
Florida defensive lineman T.J. Searcy of Upson-Lee and South Carolina defensive back Jalon Kilgore made the team, announced Thursday.
Searcy played in every game and added depth to the defensive line. He had 26 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, two QB hurries, and a forced fumble.
Kilgore started all but one game for the Game cocks, at either nickel or safety. He led the team in tackles for much of the season, but finished second with 76 tackles, tied for 16th in the SEC and tied for sixth among all freshmen in FBS. He had 1.5 TFLs, forceda fumble, broke up six passes and had an interception.
The last Central Georgian to make the team was Upson-Lee’s Travon Walker in 2019
